Services at Little Nuggets Nutrition

At Little Nuggets Nutrition, we support children and their families with a wide range of eating, nutrition, growth, and feeding concerns — from simple worries to more complex challenges. Our work is grounded in a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, and non-judgemental approach, always centring your child’s safety, wellbeing, and individuality.

We work alongside families to reduce stress around food and eating, build trust and safety first, and support nourishment in ways that feel realistic and sustainable for your family.

Who We Work With

NDIS

We support children who are:

  • Plan-managed

  • Self-managed

Please note: we are an unregistered NDIS provider, which means we are unable to see NDIA-managed participants.

GP Chronic Condition Management Plans (GPCCMP)

If your child has a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, you may be eligible for:

  • Up to 5 dietetic sessions per calendar year

  • A Medicare rebate, which helps reduce out-of-pocket costs

Your GP can advise whether your child is eligible and arrange the referral.

Private Clients

Families are also welcome to access services privately, with no referral required.

What to expect…

Initial Assessment = 2 appointments

Your initial assessment is intentionally split into two appointments, usually

scheduled 1–2 weeks apart.

Session 1 & 2: Parent-Only Appointments

These sessions are parent-only, by design.

This allows you the space to:

  • Share concerns openly and honestly

  • Discuss sensitive information that may be difficult or inappropriate to talk about in front of your child

  • Reflect on what’s been hard — and what’s already working

As part of the assessment, I:

  • Gather detailed information from parents and caregivers

  • Review relevant medical and developmental history

  • Liaise with your child’s GP and other specialists (with consent), such as:

    • Growth data

    • Blood work

    • Medical or allied health reports

This thorough approach helps ensure recommendations are individualised, realistic, and aligned with your child’s needs — not generic advice.

Ongoing Support Options

Telehealth Appointments

Telehealth is available to families across Australia and works well for:

  • Parent consultations

  • Education and strategy development

  • Reducing travel stress for children and families

Home Visiting Appointments

Home visits are available for families located within a 30-minute radius of South Brisbane, North Gold Coast and Logan & Scenic Rim

Home-based support can be especially helpful for:

  • Children who feel safest in their own environment

  • Understanding real-life mealtime dynamics

  • Reducing the pressure and sensory load of clinic settings

Food Exploration Sessions

Food exploration sessions are offered when your child shows signs of readiness, interest, and comfort.

These sessions:

  • Are child-led — your child sets the pace

  • Focus on building safety, trust, and curiosity with food

  • Do not involve pressure to eat, taste, or take bites

Food exploration may look like:

  • Playing, touching, smelling, or interacting with food

  • Exploring foods through your child’s interests

  • Supporting positive experiences around food without expectations

These sessions are always tailored to your child — there is no “right way” to explore food.

A Gentle Reminder

Progress doesn’t always look like bites on a plate.

Sometimes success is:

  • Less stress at mealtimes

  • A calmer nervous system around food

  • A child feeling safe enough to sit at the table

  • A family feeling more confident and supported

At Little Nuggets Nutrition, we prioritise safety before bites — because when safety comes first, nourishment can follow in many meaningful ways.
